The Naqil Sumarah pass on the Taez - Sanaa road is 3000 metres at its highest point. The plain of Tihama ends abruptly in the North-South chain of the Eastern mounts. Several of its peaks, reach more than 3000 m. Djebel an-Nabi Shu' ayb, is 3660 metres at its highest point.
