Boats


Al-Khawkha is one of the most important centres of construction of wooden boats. Dozen boats are built at the same time along the shore. The most modest boat is the khashaba (large raft), used to fish with the net near the coasts. Then comes the huri, a kind of dugout. Largest is the sambouk, it can measure more than 25 metres length.
