Kunming lake


Until 1860, the Summer Palace was only a part of the gardens of Perfect Splendour, created by the Manchus sovereigns during XVIIth-XVIIIth century, on a surface of 346 ha. Its landscape owes its aspect to the emperor Qianlong (1736-1796) who reconstituted near Beijing the lake and the hills of Hangzhou.
